I grew up with hot combs and relaxers and rollers and curling irons. Five years ago I started wearing extensions and finally went natural -- sometimes I wear my hair pressed and sometimes I wear a wavy fro. I didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t have and sisters and I never played \\\\\\\\

God Bless your question because this situation needs to be addressed to
all women. Please, Please do NOT put any hot tools to your 3 year old
hair, nor should you ever put extensions in her hair. What I suggest is
to get a spray bottle and put water in it (make sure it's warm as not
to shock her). When you're about to comb your daughter's hair, lightly
spray water on the section you're dealing with. Get a large comb and
hold the hair from the base and comb her hair from the ends of the
hair, working your way to the base, using a quick motion almost as if
you're picking hair with a pick. Water is the best product because it
loosens hair. Use Nourish and Shine by www.JaneCarterSolution.com .
It's concentrated so a dab is enough for a section of hair. When it
comes to ponytails, you should use Goodies barrettes without the metal
clips and learn to not put them in so tight. I feel extensions should
never be placed in a child's hair because it's very damaging to the
hair and will cause halo baldness. We should allow our children's hair
to flourish without causing harm to it, this should be our main goal.
Explain to your daughter that her hair/texture is beautiful because God
gave it to her. Although you're natural, by you pressing your hair, you
are validating your daughter's hair issues. Children except truth and
will rebel from people not 'walking the talk'. You may want to refrain
from pressing your hair and wearing your hair in its natural state
without altering it. You then can tell her that "mommy loves her hair
as God made it, as is". You may have to say this over and over until
she absorbs it. In time you may see a complete change in how she views
her hair because mommy is showing her by example.
