First and foremost a person's chosen career should be their PASSION. No one should ever embark on a job if they do not love it from their inner core. So, yes, being a stylist is a promising career if it's your LOVE. The love I'm speaking about is that you can style someone's hair and forget to ask for your money!! I've done this countless times in my career. I've been styling hair since age seven and I'm almost forty. My maternal grandmother was a cosmetologist as my paternal granddad was a barber. I'm at peace when I'm styling hair. As far as should someone work for self or for someone, totally depends on ones preference. I actually do both. I've been freelancing for 9 years and I alo work at Johnny Gentry Salon in NYC and when I'm in LA, I work at Eclipse Salon on Melrose Ave. Because I work in the entertainment industry, I rather work at salons so I can have my freedom to travel when I need to. Owning a salon requires a lot of energy and the presence of the salon owner. For me, I plan to open a salon maybe 10 years from now. In life, you have to decide what's best for you. Wish you the best…
